About Mira :
Little Mira have had some missfortunes in her life. When she was about 4 months old she was attacked by another dog. That made her afraid of other dogs after that incident. And in some aspect even humans, because she connected them to dogs. Because of this I lost my will to train agility with her (because I have had enough of afraid dogs before). I know how much work it would be tom make her feel safe again amongst others. So I didn't really start her training until she was about one year old. Unfortunately I only trained her for about a month until the next bad thing happened: Dads german shepherd, Taxie, accidentaly stepped on her so she broke her leg! It went completely of and needed a plate and pins to keep it in place. Her fears, which had gotten a lot better before this, now got worse again. About in october 2005 the leg was good enough for me to start her training again. But now I didn't have much time to train before the winter arrived. In january/february the plate was to be operated out, and it took about one month more before the leg was fully recovered so that I could start her training again. But the vets did a nice job and now you can't tell her leg was broken.
Mira had a little trouble in the competitions at first, because she felt a little unsecure in that environment (hard to be at an agility competition without other dogs nearby). but now it's starting to get better. She has in fact great capacity for doing agility. If I just can make myself really to work with her training (she has had to stand back a bit because of my company and Vinna) She could be a nice agility dog if I just put a little more effort into her.
I have managed to train her to do some real nice contacts, that I am very pleased with. i just have to quality-proof them a bit more. Among other things she absolutely loves when se see-saw hits the grund! She runs all the way out to the edge so that it looks lika she will fall down, and she really pushes it down to make it go a little bit faster. She is also starting to get that niced speed that a good agility dog needs, and is quite lovely to run agility with. If I get her to turn a bit better I think she will be very good.
