About Vinna :
Vinna is born in a litter of 10 puppies: 8 girls and 2 boys. To see pictures of them you can go to Kreivi's website, press "Kullar" and then "sjörövarkullen". When Vinna was about 3 months old she broke her leg and we had us some troublesome time then. The plaster bandage slipped down all the time and we had to go to the veterinarian every 4:th day! The vets turned and pulled the plaster on poor Vinna, which of course hurt a lot. Poor thing! She didn't get very good associations to other people during this time. But she is now, despite of that, very social with other people. She likes to work with other people and cuddle with them, but could in the past get a bit reserved when she was examined closer. And still she really doesn't like going to the vet.
So far Vinna lives up to everything I have ever wanted in a dog. She loves to work and can work in every environment. She has already from when she was a pup had an enormous power of concentration (despite rowdy elements), of which I could just dream of with my Shelties. She also has a very good "on/off-switch". When nothing happens she relaxes and is very calm, but is very fast with me when it's time to work again. She can work together with anyone, she is pleased as long as she gets to work. I have tested some herding with her also and shown interest for the sheep, no doubt about that. But I don't know how much instincts she has. We have also been to some conformation shows and got some nice critique there. But what we foremost intend to concentrate on are agility and obedience. And because Vinna is such a terrific tracking dog, I think we will do a couple of competitions in that area too. We'll see what happens...
Now that we have started competing I am absolutely blown away by her versatility and will to please. I have never had a dog like her. She has managed to take 1'st prize in obedience class 1 and 2 in just two trials. In her debut at tracking she immediately advanced to the next class. In her agility debut she got one leg in jumpers class. On the agility course she has been amazing. In just 8 runs she managed to get 6 legs and advanced to class 3 (the highest class. What a dog! She advanced to class 3 in her third trial...
Vinna and I were chosen to represent Sweden at the AKC Agility Invitationals in Long Beach, California in December of 2008. There she went through, as the best Aussie (in the Aussie's homeland!), to the Finals and were placed 8'th in total. And this only 10 months after her debut in agility competitions! This dog never ceases to amaze me...
